Differentials

have had a slow leak in front differential for few weeks, curious if rear end collision i had last month could have contributed to the cause

It could have moved things around or given a big enough jolt to effect a lot of things.

Agree; a number of years ago I was rearended by a pickup truck and it jolted the drive train so much that the engine fan cut into the radiator. Both had to be replaced, and the guy’s insurance agreed that it was caused by the collison.

Yes, it could have. And the fix may be just a new pinion seal. I’d check the axial play while I was there too. The chances of it being out due to damage are truely slim, but hey, why not?

Maybe but you’ll never be able to prove it one way or the other.

Yes, it’s possible. I’ve even seen some engines and transmissions that suffered internal damage due to a collision.
