s there a protocol on the wiring to the connector and the data streams that come out and how to parse them. It would be fun to plug a laptop into the car and collect the data.

Yes there is. And the scanner I have is just a black box that plugs into a spare laptop I have. However…there are 3 different protocols…US, Asian and Europe.

I looked at the protocol and it’s pretty simple. The scanner I bought has a link for several different software programs people wrote.

Can you provide more details? In particular on the N. American version. Where did you get your scanner, is there a website to learn more?
