I have no idea if most do or don’t. All I know is that every vehicle I’ve owned that had AC the AC did NOT kick on when you turned on Defrost. You have to specifically turn the AC on. The defrost can be on without the AC. I’ve seen a few cars that did turn the AC on automatically. My brothers Honda Civic…I’ve rented a couple of cars that did. But I never took a complete survey to know if MOST of just a few did.
