Worked on a controller for a giant lathe. During testing, was standing as far away as I could when the overhead crane brought the blank over. When the chucking mechanisms engaged, something kept hitting my leg. It was an inch diameter wire, flexing when current flowed due to the effort to move that log of steel. You might want to restrain this conductor over here…

That test is meaningless unless you know the weight equivalent of the pressure being applied.

young guy in md just recently passed away from car jack failure.

Was he using a jack that was under-sized for the task . . . whatever that may have been?

Did he position it incorrectly . . . ?

My neighbor has a very good floor jack and loves to work under his truck with only the jack holding it up. Dude, even if the jack were indestructible, you have kids, and if the kid decides to fool with the jack and twists the handle…
