I’m not the type to race on public road but occasionally while I’m in good spirit and I see someone showing off, especially when their cars are supposed to be slower than mine, I would give them a run for about a mile on a straight stretch and when traffic is clear. The little child in me still lives
Flooring the Lexus once in a blue moon also helps me understand what kind of car I have and what it can do. I must say 260hp and the car weighing a lot, feels slow.
Once should be enough for you to know that . With all your posts about driving problems it is time for you grow up or at least stop making yourself look so immature.
When these drivers are questioned afterward by police officers, they ALWAYS say something along the lines of… the harder I pushed on the brake pedal, the faster it went.
After my friend’s Accord was T-boned by a woman driving a Lexus RX, I heard her tell the cop those exact words. The cop softly muttered, “Yeah, that’s what happens when you confuse the gas and the brake”.
Edited to add:
At my Physical Therapy session today, I had to listen to a teenaged “princess” complaining about… seemingly everything… including that it wasn’t her fault that she wrecked her father’s Buick. “So I pushed Drive instead of Reverse. So what?”
Just imagine how many other misadventures she’s going to have behind the wheel as she ages.
Lexus does not show any sports cars on their website. Just some high performance, “ sport performance” vehicles.
Mazda offers a true sports car, the Miata.
I failed to think about this. Something like that actually happened to me.
I was chatting to a lady inside of a parking lot and forgot I hadn’t put the car in P. My foot was on the brake as I was talking to her and everything was going fine. Then I needed to adjust my seating position due to my back problem, so I came off the brake briefly to return back to it but my foot hit the accelerator instead and the car jumped like a horse ready to take off. I managed to correct the problem in seconds but if a pedestrian or a car was in front of me, I would have hit them.
P.S. Since that time, I always put the car in neutral when I stop temporarily.
It would be better to put it in Park, and then take your foot off of the brake pedal.
When I am in a parking lot, I frequently see people whose car is parked, but their foot is on the brake pedal. Twenty-thirty minutes later, they are still sitting there with their foot on the brake pedal.
By poor man’s sport car I meant cars that look sporty or pretend to look sporty . This is why I always aim for the SE trim for the Camry’s despite it’s not a sport car hehehe.
As for the Mazda Miata, my good and best friend is in love with it. I think it’s a cool car but might be uncomfortable for my back issues like the FRS and BRZ are.
The bmw 340i is what I truly want but my pocket doesn’t want.
Did you ever try to get into and out of that Miata? It’s almost as difficult as with the FRS/86/BRZ. The one time that I tried sitting in a BRZ–luckily, in the showroom–in order to get out, I had to essentially crawl onto the showroom floor and then grip the car’s body in order to raise myself.
Before I purchase the IS, I watched a YouTube video of a RCF owner. He mentioned that a brake job alone was over $2000. and needed to be replaced frequently. I believe upkeep on them is the same as a bmw 340i
After Mustangman posted that, I happened to go to a local Target. I don’t know how effective those red concrete balls are. They didn’t keep that guy from parking on the sidewalk. Maybe he didn’t want to block the fire lane.
