Cost of ownership

I am wondering what would be the cost of maintenance on a 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i with an automatic. It has 59,000

Depends on what maintenance has been done. Check the tires for wear and the battery for a recent replacement. These should be close to needing replacement at this age. Also, check the replacement interval for the timing belt. They usually start at 60,000, but some extend to 100,000 miles. Also, spark plugs and transmission service should be about due.

Open the booklet titled Subaru Warranty and Maintenance.
Make a list of the procedures listed for major service intervals, such as 60k, 90k, etc.
Take the list to several mechanics and a dealership or two, and get a price quote on each of these major services.

As a general rule, you can figure 5 to 10 cents per mile if you do your own work or 10 to 20 cents per mile if you hire it out. Over the long run.

1st year: $347
2nd year: $2083
3rd year: $599
4th year: $945
5th year: $1004

This assumes you replace the timing belt during the 5th year (your 2nd year of ownership). Repairs are extra; this is just planned maintenance.
