Comparing new cars

Just to be clear here, that is not my way of seeing it either. But that is how the manufacturers see it. Around here, there are more people that will continue to drive on a flat tire than know how to mount the spare.

Edit: except for the part about the full sized spare, I don’t think we need those anymore.

Me neither.

I had to use my spare this year, 2nd time in 20 years, a nail in the sidewall the night before vacation road trip. Seems like the lowering crank is like a 1 time use due to plastic gears, $125 for a new crank, decided to leave the 13 year old spare at the cabins, wifes new car no spare. I think I’ll not worry about a new crank and new tire for spare. spare is still good but 500 miles away.

BTW, maybe a little perspective is needed here, did you ever hear that saying “happy wife, happy life”? … lol …

Get the Optima. If mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy!

If she is paying for it, and takes care of maintenance, those things are correct. If I am paying for it, or have to do the maintenance on it, I make the decision. Married over 41 years and do not cringe when my wife walks into the room.

I bought a full-sized spare tire/wheel and carry it if I am going any distance from home. It also works great for putting under the car when I work on it, until I get a good floor jack.
