WHEN IT GETS TO BE BELOW FREEZING AT NIGHT OR THE DAY I HAVE A HARD TIME SHIFTING THE CAR INTO DRIVE(IT IS AUTOMATIC ON THE COLUMN) WHEN I LET IT WARM UP I POINT THE HEATER VENTS TOWARD THE STERRING COLUMN TO WARM IT UP, IT SEEMS TO HELP TO SHIFT EASYER. I would tend to believe it is a shift linkage issue. A little adjustment or lube might take care of it. If that is original transmission fluid, it likely is due for a change so you aught to do that as well. Make sure the correct fluid is used.
