I drive a 2001 honda crv with > 170k miles on it. When I drive over bumps with it I hear a clunking noise. It doesn’t happen when I turn so I figured its not the cv joints which I have replaced on my other car. Could this be shocks or tie rods or what??
is this clunk coming from the front or rear?
if its from the front it could be the sway bar, or the motor mounts. if it was the tie rods or the shocks it would probably be noticed in turns or other times too.
if its in the back, (just on a hunch) have you had a flat tire lately, and had to use the spare?
possibly the spare isnt secured, and when you go over a bump its thumping!!??
