Cleaning the engine. Do’s and Dont’s.
This where Google is your friend . There are hundreds of vehicle detailing videos on You Tube . Also the Auto Geek web site has some. frankly if you are asking I would say just have a professional detailing service do this for you.
I prefer to spray quick detailer on a microfiber cloth and wipe down everything I can reach. It doesn’t look perfect, but that way there’s no chance of getting water into something that isn’t supposed to get wet. If you do this, be careful of the fan turning on, of course.
I have washed many engine bays, so far no issues. I am not very generous with the water. Used to use the engine cleaner stuff, but recently on a used Prius I bought (the engine bay was really dirty), I just made my own spray with dawn and water. Even though the Prius has a lot more electrical parts, still went well. I just let it dry under the sun before starting it.
YIKES! These have high voltage connections, I know they should be waterproof, but I’d never want to test it out that way.
