I recently bought a 1969 chevy c10 pickup. I have been having problems with the electrical system, the battery consistenty going dead despite a new battery and alternator installed by the previous owner. Is there a step-by-step for diagnosis of this problem?
Thanks,
Aiden
First check alternator output, then check for a parasitic load on the battery. On a 1969 model, the parasitic load is usually a stuck voltage regulator… These tests can be performed with a simple multi-meter…
And if that indicates the problem (voltage reg I mean) is that something that can be repaired or is it best to just replace it?
Here is a link that may help you find the trouble.
