2014 Jeep Cherokee and want to get tranny fluid changed. Been watching so.e.you tube videos and it seems I have to drop a panel cover off some sort to get to the drain. Anyone familiar with this? Is it a diy thing I can do? Thank you.
The vehicle is over 10 years old, with probably a 100,000 miles or more.
And with a sealed transmission, I wouldn’t bother doing this as a D.I.Y. service.
Instead, I’d bring it to a shop to have the transmission fluid serviced.

Well, it isn’t starting now. So, hold off on tranny fluid work.

Questions I always ask myself:
- Do I have the knowledge, skills, physical space, and/or special tools to do this job?
- Can I get rid of the old fluids (oil, coolant, etc.) in a safe and proper way?
- Can I potentially do without the vehicle for a period of time, if my efforts go wrong somehow?
My answers to these questions have led me to take my car to the mechanic for several years now. That way I know the work is done right, and I drink their coffee in the waiting room.
Just my two cents.
