There is a new model of this type… Hagerty Car Clubs. It is targeted at well heeled auto enthusiasts. You can join as a social member or rent a storage bay or bays. There are lifts and and a shop “pro” (like a country club golf or tennis pro) that can give advice. There will be hands-on classes to teach repair and restoration.
There are clubs in NY, Illinois, California and Florida, and maybe others.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Near here there was a plan to build condos and a race track for high end folks with classic cars. The condos would have garages and racks and so on to store the cars and/or work on them. I’m not sure where it is at but think the rural neighbors canceled the whole thing as disturbing their peace on the farm. I believe they had other amenities in mind too and I’m sure in addition to the hefty cost of the condo, high association costs that would pay for it all. What do you do with thousands of acres of farm land close to the big city and people with millions burning a hole in their pockets?
DIY garage stalls? Forget about it. Lots of risks and no money in it. Condos with a race track and garages for folks with money, sure.
That is a popular thing… Autobahn in Illinois near Chicago. The M1 Concourse near Pontiac Michigan, Spring Mountain near Vegas, Monticello near NYC, Club Motorsports in Tamworth NH, VIR has one in Virginia, Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville, Georgia, Palmer in Palmer Mass., The Thermal Club 2 hrs from LA… and more.
Membership ranges from $5000 to near $100,000 buy-in and $2500 to $15,000 a year dues. Yes, for folks with money. BUT, if you just paid $1.2 Million for your McLaren 720S Senna, or $3.5 Million for a Ferrari LaFerrari, another $100K to play with them doesn’t seen too steep, now does it?
The Shop in Seattle is similar, but they’ll also do certain services like an oil change for you at an hourly rate. Service bays and tools, Membership and storage for one car is around $400/mo. Hosted a saturday morning gathering in the parking lot that seemed to have a little bit of everything show up.
