Car help for dummies?

had trouble starting my 1998 dodge caravan; new battery six months ago; when it did start the four on/off indicator lights on the buttons for ac and rear windshield defroster began flashing; mechanic replaced alternator and car starts up fine but lights still flashing; he doesn’t know what it is; save me from a trip to the dealer please! oh, and the flashing lights go off after driving a while but start back up each time the car is restarted
