I hope it works out well for you. 500 miles is very low for a used car. What did they tell you about low mileage?

You win my unconditional positive regard.

As for the low miles, no one at the dealer knew. I looked a the carfax, and I can see it was bought in Lynn, MA, registered in Portsmouth, NH, and then shortly thereafter it popped back up in Manchester. I could only speculate. Second thoughts, maybe? It’s smaller than the CR-V, doesn’t have the turbo, it’s the base trim line so maybe someone wanted heated seats and blind spot monitoring.

Or, maybe the previous owner thought that the car’s seats didn’t suit their own seat. As long as it’s comfortable for you, you can enjoy what someone else shunned.

Good luck with your new vehicle. just make sure this recall was taken care of. It happened on my son’s Honda civic a month after he got it. Out of the blue he tried to make a turn, and the steering wheel got very hard to turn. he had to use 2 hands and muscle the steering wheel to turn…

Several forum members don’t trust used vehicles that are less than 3 years old, they offer suspicion and discouraging comments. Perhaps those fears no longer exist.

Used vehicles that are18 to 36 months old are common on the car lot, but to find a vehicle less than one year old with only 500 miles is very unusual.

You get to diagnose the suspension noises after the warranty expires, compact vehicles with strut suspensions draw the most suspension noise complaints.

I have noticed that also…

But almost all of my daily drivers have been 1-3 year old used vehicles other than 1 brand new one I bought 25 years ago, never had any issues with them… Parents the same way, put 265K miles on one, the other had for 33 years, one for 11 years, one for 189K, and many more…
My current truck was only 9 or 10 months old with 12K miles on it and I don’t think I will have any more trouble out of it then I would if I bought it new…

My rule used to be, as long as it still has some of the remaining 3 year/36K warranty left, I could buy it…

I bought a 2009 Chevy Cobalt LT just after the bottom fell out of the financial market. The Chevy dealer was going out of business and needed to move everything on the lot that Chevrolet would not buy back. They would not buy back this car because it had more than 400 miles in it (actually about 460). It had never been registered and still qualified as new. I got a great price on it. It worked fine until we sold it about 10 years later. I mention this to show that there are many reasons an extremely low mileage car might be sold, including life changing events. My experience also shows that very low mileage cars can work well for years.

People suffer buyers regret, sell a vehicle that turns out not to meet there needs, or in one case I’m aware of, was too complex for them.

I have a 2014 Highlander with over 220k miles. My neighbor owns a 2017 Rav4 with over 120k miles (I think). We live on a dirt/gravel road. Traveling on this road during New England spring and winter can be a very very bumpy ride. Neither of us have had any suspension issues with the exception of replacing the shocks/struts. They both seem to hold up well.
