What could be reasons my suv is burning through oil?

Since you haven’t told us the age, mileage, or engine, it could be, as @Tester noted, as catastrophic as a worn-out engine, or as simple as a bad PCV valve. No way to even guess without lots more info.

4 Cylinder? It’s a common issue.
Does it have the 2.4 4 cyl DI engine and is It between 2010 and 2013? These engines were known for premature piston ring and timing chain wear. There was a class action settlement but I believe it was only for 7 years from new.

2014 97000 and yes a 4 cylinder
