BRZ has been great. Recommended first sports cars

It wasn’t that long ago I put up a post asking about what was then my final two cars of choice, a used Mustang GT or a new Subaru BRZ. Several of you replied and I am very thankful for that. Some of you might have seen my choice, I ended up with a grey 2024 Subaru BRZ Limited.

I already owned a Subaru Legacy 3.6 liter prior to the purchase, and still own it - and it is not leaving the family, its reliablity has been outstanding. Reliability is one reason I went with the BRZ over the Mustang, but the information I got from this forum, and an Edmunds review that stated that in order to get a car that handles as good as a BRZ or a little better, you are going to have to buy a Porsche GT4 RS, yeah…and those start at $165,000.

The handling of the BRZ has just been amazing, and seriously it can flat out spoil you. I thought my Legacy had outstanding handling, which it does, but the BRZ is in a who different category. Rev matching is easy with the BRZ, however it has taken me some time to get heel and toe down for it, and for those who have driven a BRZ or a GR-86 - having big feet can take a little longer to getting it down, I wear size 14 shoes and sometimes a 15. Overall, I can care less about 228 HP, the BRZ is just a flat out amazing and fun car for the money.

When it comes to a first sports cars, it is just my opinion for someone who wants their first real sports car, I would highly recommend either a BRZ, a GR86 or a Mazda Miata. They’re all affordable, reliable and fun. While they are 4 cylinder engines, buying any of these cars really helps you realize if you like a real sports car at a much lower price. When you go from a regular car to in my case a BRZ, you realize things like wow I don’t have near the storage space or space like my Legacy has. Mustangs, Camaros and Dodge’s BMW M4s and such are great cars to say the least, but they offer a lot more space than a BRZ, Miata, Porsche Corvette, Lamborghini. While it is a little thing amongst the many things in deciding if you want a sports car as opposed to a muscle car, my recommendation is one of the 3 I mentioned - you’ll know if you are more a muscle car person or a sports car person.

You like your car and that’s awesome. I’m happy for you.

If you step foot inside of a bmw 340 you’ll feel differently.

Reason is that the higher HP in the bmw makes for a more fun ride where sporty is concerned.

I know the BRZ interior is roomy despite its small exterior appearance. Still, a 15 size foot should be interesting to see driving these cars

People don’t buy sports cars for their storage space or number of seats. No one can define what a sports car is for someone else. It’s an opinion.

A 2 passenger sports car does not have a lot of storage space . Not exactly breaking news.

Damn, can’t y’all just be freaking happy for someone instead of having something negative to say??? Gezz, get over it… lol

Make up your mind, either people don’t buy them for.. OR No one can define… It’s an opinion…, Is the OP NOT allowed to have an opinion???

I remember the early 90’s Maxima with the 5 speed manual was being sold as a 4 door sports car, it had a trunk also…

I think that a Charger with wide body and hellcat engine is a very fast sports car as well… Doesn’t some of the exotics now have 4 doors and storage space…

Welcome to the 21st Century Gentleman…

Don’t take my word for it…

Those statements are mutually exclusive.

#1. People who buy sports cars don’t buy them for storage. That’s a FACT. They may buy a car that’s sporty that also has storage, but the people who are buying a sports car for what it is (a sports car), don’t care about having a lot of storage.

#2. Definition of a sports car is really ambiguous. I respect people’s judgement on what they think a sports car is. Define it all you want. But other people opinions have ZERO influence on what I consider a sports car should be. All I said you can’t define what I consider sports car to be.
