Agree. The Vulcan was really reliable. It wasn’t hugely powerful (at least towards the end of it’s production run when other 3.0 liter engines were making over 200 HP), nor was it all that fuel efficient for the amount of power it produced. But it was reliable. The 4.2L (stroked 3.8L) on paper looked like a good replacement for the 300 I6. It had more HP and matched it for peak torque, and was more compact and fuel efficient, but it was nowhere near as robustly built…
