Bmw ac

I have a 2004 BMW 325i and have recently been having problems with my AC. The dealership says there is a small leak and the evaporator needs to be replaced, costing $2,700. The mechanic said I could take it someone else and have it fixed without being replaced. Any advice would be great and if I have any options.

I would take the vehicle to an independent AC shop and get a second opinion. Let them find the problem and get their best estimate.
