I think you guys missed it on the Bent Valve Cover call. My dad owned a transmission shop and when we reinstalled the pan, the bolt holes would often be “dimpled” where the pan had been previously over-tightened. We would place the rail of the Pan, (do this with the V.C.), flat on a 2x6 and using a ball-peen hammer, re-flatten the deformed rail.
