Bent rim, fix or replace?

And drum brakes. Aaarrrghhhhh!!

Been a long time since I had a car with drum brakes on the front. Probably the 60 Ford Falcon. Whereas the worse car for low profile tires is my current Forester with 16" wheels.

Nope. My '64 Fairlane had drums all around.
Guys, what’s the latest car you can recall with drums all around?

My '72 Duster had them. Weak, especially when I towed a U-Haul…

I was listing the cars I had owned. After the Falcon was a Renault Dauphine, which had 4 wheel disc brakes (as I recall…)

Ahh, it must have been a Renault 8 or 10 as they were the first cars ever in that segment to have 4 wheel disc brakes.

Ohh, those were the times when a car had style, well - good or bad.

A Dauphine looks like this:

no, it was a dauphine. But my memory of disc brakes could be faulty.

And a bit research shows you are correct. My next car was a Volvo 142, which did have disc brakes.

My dad’s 1970 Pontiac Catalina. A full sized car weighing an easy 4200 lbs. 4 wheel drums, no power assist. That is the newest all-drum car I’ve ever seen. Both grandparents had new GM cars in 1970 but both had front disk brakes.

I THINK my '72 Vega had drums all around… but I honestly can’t remember for certain.
Mike, you had a Vega, do you remember if yours had drums all around?

Vegas had front disks from the get-go in 1971. Modern engineering, right?

I’m sure some fool Delco Moraine brake engineer tried to get 4 wheel drums on the car though!
