Bent rim after tire installation

I recently had new tires put on my truck at discount tire. the rims are chrome plated steel, and I discovered that one of the tires got bent, and is now showing ripples by the valve stem… I was wondering if there is any way that upon tire installation that their equipment could have caused this issue to arise?

Tyre or rim got bent? Have you asked the shop what they think?

Anything is possible, but I consider it unlikely. Try bending an old steel rim with a hammer sometime and you’ll find it tougher than you suspect.
