Back-up lights out in '93 Mustang

I have a 93 Mustang LX, manual transmission. The back-up lights are out, but all other lights are working. I replaced the bulbs. Both old bulbs were intact, the lights do not light up with the new bulbs. The wires going to the socket look intact, the sockets look intact, and the fuse is intact (the fuse is shared with the hazards/turn signals, which work fine). Any ideas on what to look for?

It sounds like the back-up light switch might be bad. It is located on the drivers side of the transmision up high in line with the shift tower.

I agree with Dartman69. You will most likely find the trouble there.

How can I recognize it? Is it easy to yank and replace?
