Auto Repair Shops charging 3 to 4 percent extra if you use a card to pay

Do you also get the privilege of standing in a checkout line, wait for the cashier to ring up the purchases while the customer instructs them on how to bag their groceries, then when all that is done, start digging in the bottom of their purse to get exact change?
I am with you, self serve&credit card whenever possible. Though I can’t beat the speed of the Aldi cashiers!

On the rare occasion that I actually use a staffed checkout, I seem to encounter a person ahead of men opening their coin purse and counting out the exact change. I stand there thinking about just telling them to let me buy your purchase but I don’t want to insult them if they really are having budget problems. Still I’m tempted. If I ever see someone having to put something back, I’ll step in and pay the bill.

That, and they are open 24 hours, which works great when you get off work at 4am

The 2 or 3 “attended” checkouts are usually backed-up badly, and then–as Bing mentioned–there are people counting out small change, so the wait on those lines can be very long. If they want to pay by check, then everything proceeds in slow motion.

I can complete my transaction at the self-checkout and be driving out of the parking lot while some of those other folks are still standing on a long line.
