Have a 2001 VW Eurovan camper with 60000 miles. Owners manual recomennds having the ATF drained every 40000 miles. VW service rep does not think this service is necessary. Rep says transmission is sealed unit and there is no need to open it up. Two Transmission specialists seem to think it should be serviced. Please help.
Follow your owners manual. The people who manufactured the vehicle obviously know more than the VW Rep does. Changing fluid is cheap insurance.
Make it 3 transmission specialists recommend servicing. Automatics need to be serviced every 25-30k miles regardless of what the owners manual says.
