Are all full synthetics created equal?

It’s the hybrid, right? They’re putting that combo in everything.

Yup. Same combo as the Rav-4, Venza (discontinued) and the new Crown SUV. Seems to be a good reliable combo.

The Crown even has two power plants. The Platinum uses the 2.4L turbo hybrid and the other two trims use the 2.5L.

We have the (non-turbo) hybrid in our RX350h. Works great.

I forgot about the Platinum having the different engine. Wife bought the Limited. When she bought her 07 Lexus she fell in love with heated seats and she made sure she’d never buy a car without it again. The Crown added a new feature - heated steering-wheel - and now she says she won’t buy any vehicle with that either. I remember back in the day buying a car with intermittent wipers and being very happy.

My NX 450h+ uses the same engine. Its power is very good, considering its size and the fact that it doesn’t have a turbo to boost it. When really hard acceleration is needed, and the gas engine and electric motors both work to propel the vehicle, it takes off like a rocket.

Once someone experiences amenities like heated seats & heated steering wheel, it’s unlikely that they would ever want to do without them again.

I assume that your Crown has rain-sensitive wipers, like my Lexus does. This is another really convenient feature.

Not sure. I’ll have to ask the wife. I rarely get to drive it.

It’s not as fast or as smooth as wife’s 07 Lexus ES-350, but it’s more than acceptable. So far it’s been a GREAT vehicle. Just hope it’s as reliable. I like the fact it sits a little higher up than the Lexus.

Unless you live in the deep south…

Probably the same for rear defogger and heated mirrors.

AC is an added feature most people in the deep south can’t live without though.

Mike lives in the deep south - of New Hampshire.

Mrs JT doesn’t want any power assist conveniences until she has them. Some of the items are: power rear passenger doors on the Odyssey, power rear hatch, power seats. She does love the heated seats though. The first thing she does when she gets into my car in the winter is to check then set the seat temperature on the passenger side. She does not like the automatic AC feature. She is constantly fiddling with the temperature setting. That’s an on/off feature and I’ve told her so. She rarely speeds up the fan to heat or cool more quickly. If it’s really hot I’ll roll the passenger window down until the cabin is comfortable enough to close it.

Yeah people down here will spend their life savings for A/C repair and still have bad brakes and cords showing on the tires, but the heat kills people every year around here–sadly…

Heated mirrors are standard on my truck, and will probably never be used (garage kept)… If I was still working I’d have to use them after work at times though…
Heated seats and wheel are an upper trim level option and maybe even standard on the Limited and TRD Pros…

It’s not too long a drive to the mountains in NC and there are days when you’d be happy for heated seats.

Yup!
On many mornings on The Blue Ridge Parkway, heated seats, steering wheel, and mirrors would come in very handy.

Drove the Blue Ridge Parkway . Should be on a persons bucket list.

I have a lot of family in the area close to the floods in NC, I know the area well… Love the smokies, but I am not a fan of leather seats and never needed heat/AC in cloth type seats…

Now, I am planning on adding a factory power (plug n play) tailgate lock when some of the Toyota dealers do the BF sales, since I added a bed cover…

Yes, I was probably ~12 years old when Dad took all of us on the Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway, and it was really beautiful. I chased a small bear into the woods with my camera, and lived to tell about it. Kids do dumb things.

While infrequent, when needed the heated seats and defroster are very useful in Dallas. Seats also help with backaches.

Yes!
I don’t normally set the heated seats for the highest heat level, but if I have a backache, heat level 3 feels really good.

Since it’s a national park there are entrance fees. If you have a senior pass, you’re all set.
