Anti-Lock Brakes on an icy hill

IIRC there’s a historical postage stamp with that plane shown, stamp collectors seek b/c of its rarity.

It’s the rare ‘Inverted Jenny’ stamp that’s worth the BIG $$

100 were sold, now worth over a million each.

Yup!
That was back in The Good Old Days, when nobody made mistakes, and when life was… perfect.

Yes

If you have to drive down a hill and you’re worried about how to brake, you shouldn’t be driving down it with or without ABS. Go put some sand on the ice or put snow chains on first.

I think the boeing 737 is the biggest airplane that still has a back up mechanical linkage to the elevator and ailerons, in case both hydraulic systems fail. There have been only one or two reported incidents where this has ever had to be used. Everything bigger is all hydraulic with 3 systems, with some kind of electric power assist (like power steering). The Boeing 777, 787, and Airbus are fly by wire where electronic controls operate the hydraulics.
