I’m not sure what they sized us up as. We were definitely serious buyers and we didn’t agonize over prices, so I think we should have looked like a possible sale. . I would have expected them to work a little harder. They might have succeeded, as we weren’t set on one car.
On the other hand some are honest. When I bought my 1960 Morris Minor back in 65 or so, it was advertised for $200. When I went to talk to the salesman about it in the show room, he said it was $150. When I pulled my checkbook out, he went to talk to the manager and they knocked it down to $125. I guess they figured the parts were worth that much-like the glass and body panels, 'cause everything else was shot. Now I wish I had it back.
