I have a '97 Isuzu Rodeo. I had the starter replaced recently. When driving back home from the mechanic shop the car’s AC shut off when I stopped in a traffic light. It started again when I hit the gas petal. It repeated this every time I stopped and and started. I took the car back to the mechanic and he told me that my alternator was bad. Then he called me back and said that the problem persisted after putting in a new alternator and he thinks it is the car’s computer that was bad. The computer costs about $900. I wanted to be sure if it was worth the money as I planning to trade the car for a new one.

I think you need to find a better mechanic. One who will diagnose the problem rather than replace random parts until its fixed.
