I have found on many late model vehicles that when the battery is dead, the steering angle sensor calibration is lost. Steering angle input is needed for the stability control (ABS) and for the back-up camera guide lines.

That is interesting. How would I go about ā€œregainingā€ it if it is lost?

Yes, my 2001 cavalier has the awful side-post battery problem and those soft lead things just get destroyed by the bolts. But this 2013 Terrain uses really good quality strong top clamps around really sturdy metal posts on the battery so Iā€™d be shocked if that were the problem.
