I have this 1994 camry wagon with AC that works as long as I keep the engine speed over 2000 rpm. If I stop at a light, it won’t work for the rest of the trip unless I turn it off before coming to a stop. Then, once I get going again, it will cool like a champ.
When you switch your A/C on, does the condenser (radiator) fans come on?? Do they stay on as long as the compressor is running??

i would check the pressure switch.
The radiator fans are hydraulic; they run off the power steering circuit and seem to be running properly.
My sense is that it has to do with the pressure switch.
