Hi. I have a 2010 Toyota Rav 4 with Ac problem. 2 local repairs shops said it has Freon and no leaks. They can both manually turn it on with a scanner and think it could be electrical, the PCM or a display board, but thought I should take it to the dealer, so I am. Does anybody have any suggestions? I hope dealer tells me the truth. I am retired on a fixed income with really limited funds. Thanks for any help!
Do not take the Rav 4 to a dealer. Take it to an independent AC shop. They are the experts and will find your problem quickly and save you money in the process.
What are the symptoms? Was the AC serviced just before the symptoms started to occur?
The dealer should be able to figure it out. But before committing to the dealership shop, ask around for who the local car experts (friends, relatives, auto parts store senior-level staff, staff at the best local independent repair shops) who they think is the best local independent AC specialist shop in town. Get an opinion there too.
Just a heads up new Toyotas no longer use cycling clutch ac compressors, often it’s the compressors that have failed. Verify that the center bolt of the compressor is turning with the ac on
Also have the shop you’re taking it to scan the hvac module, there is a fairly common code that sets with the compressor failing
