My ABS sensors have gone on my 2002 Silverado. They did a recall on these back in '05 because they would be activated when traveling at very low speeds causing trucks to travel further when attempting to brake. Here it is 3 years later and they are not working properly again. I plan to have them fixed, but I’m a little strapped for cash right now. My question is does anyone know if waiting to get these fixed will cause any damage to my brakes or brake system?
No. It will cause no damage to the brake system. If any of the wheel speed sensors fails the ABS computer will not allow the ABS to function. But the primary brake system will still function normally. So it would be like driving a vehicle that didn’t come equipped the ABS.
