How? This I gotta hear.
Those are a disappearing business. And you have to be real careful because those wands are not the cleanest. Make sure you clean the wand before you use it on your car.
Your body-man is the ONLY person I ever heard say NOT to wash at home. Every experienced paint and body-man and auto-detailer I know says the BEST washing is at home with a clean cloth or spunge. Do a google search and you’ll find a plethora of info on the subject. Not one agrees with your body-man.
Mike, it isn’t only my body-man who strongly believes that home car-washing is not without problems. I have found other sites that agree with him.
The issue is that home hose water pressure is not very high. This drags dirt across the panels, rather than simply ‘ping’ it right off the car, which is what they have found a high-pressure wand will do, avoiding a slow drag of the dirt across the paint that a much lower pressure home water supply and hose will do.
I don’t see that as an issue. And MOST if not all car-washes first spray the car with low pressure water/soap…so how are they different.
Man, this fanaticism has gone over the top. Heaven forbid a dirty car should ever get caught in the rain. The resulting paint damage will be too much to bear…the horror!
No matter what belief someone espouses, you’re likely to find people on the internet that share the same belief- if you look hard enough.
