It stopped working by itself in my 2020 Pacifica. I had the batteries tested but they both tested normal.
My Escape would shut down with the AC on depending on the temp. If the car was still pretty hot inside (say I just got in the car) it would stay on but it would shut off if it didnāt really need to keep cooling all the time.
Your choice but Iāve had nothing but four cylinder turbos in my cars since 1995. Two Saabs. Two Fords. Recent purchase a Mini. No issues ever. Even when I drag raced them. And drove them hard.
Some people are just afraid of anything new but four cylinders turbos arenāt even new.
Itās your choice but I recommend turbo fours to everyone and Iāve yet anyone to say I gave them bad advice.
Iām a car guy. They respect my advice because I am conservative. I wait for tech to mature before I recommend. Turbo fours are mature.
I think yāall are making a big fuss over nothing. The dealer lent us a 2018 Ford Edge with the feature and my wife hated it. I found the option buried in the menus and turned it off. No need to do it twice.
Now we have a '25 Chevy Eclipse with the 1.5 turbo. It has the start/stop feature and I can hardly tell it is working. The engine is so smooth I need to look at the tach to tell it engaged. And when the engine restarts you really do not notice that either. It might make a difference if I was drag racing.
As far as not turning off with the AC on, I really do not know. Perhaps related to the ATC temp setting.
Iāve owned a coupl3 four cylinders. Driving 3000 miles a month though and getting up to 500,000 miles on my cars, itās only been with six or eight cyl. Maybe a turbo four would hav3 th3 same longevity and cost per mile but I doubt it. To each his own. Naturally though, an electric car would shut off coming to a stop. This was mainly about ICE not electric or hybrids. As famously said, if you like your car, you can keep you4 car.
A what??? Did you mean a Mitsubishi Eclipse or a Chevy Equinox??
Oops. Yep. That is correct.
Well certainly the Prius last that long. Ask any big city taxi driver. They gush over their Prius. I have asked them. They would never go back to say the old Ford Crown Vicās. Yet to hear anyone say they preferred the Vicās which I rarely see anymore. They also say the hybrid batteries last as long as the cars.
In NYC, taxi drivers report that their Priusā batteries lasted for 200k milesāor more. If this report is truthful, a Prius taxi driver in Austria claims to have gotten 600k from his batteries.
Oh boy. Where can I find a bargain bright yellow Prius with half a million miles on it for a bargain price? And can it pull a trailer? I believe everything the media and government tells me. When have they ever lied? I need a new car but donāt want to pay much.
Crown Victorias were common in the 1990ās, phased out because of the fuel consumption of the V-8 engine. In my area cabs must be replaced after 4 years/400,000 miles. The popularity of the Prius and Crown Victorias are 20 years apart.
2 to 3 years? 100,000 miles/year of operation is typical for a taxicab.
You can buy a new or used Prius and paint it yellow if you wish.
I have seen small trailers pulled be Prius, why do you want to pull a trailer? Did you pull a trailer on you trip to San Diago? There are common hybrid vehicles with towing capacities of 3000 lbs. or more.
Heh heh. Always the comedian. They wouldnāt put th3 trailer on the plane so just packed light.
So do straw hats come standard with the Prius ? Coming home from work I would regularly come upon a Prius putting along. The guy had his straw hat and.nose in the air. I guessed he was a professor heading to nigh5 class. When Iād hit th3 left lane to go around, heād speed up. It was green. Maybe yellow now.
We have some on here that would prefer the Checker Taxi Cabs for there bench seat, better floaty ride and wonderful 4 wheel drum brakesā¦
Donāt forget the jump seats.
Jeez Bing your anti government tirade is getting worn out.
Yet I bet you like your social security check and Medicare too much to move.
The new Ram 1500 hybrid pulls 11,000 pounds. Or was it 13,000?
Interesting piece of kit. Built just like a diesel loco.
you can already turn it off on some cars, but the problem is that you have to do that every time you restart the car. Consider what a bad idea this is for those cars that have the starter motor underneath the intake manifold!
