hi, my car a 97 grand prix has begun to idle very fast when you start it. if i let it run for 30 seconds or so, i can shut engine off and restart and it slows down…i usually have to do this process a few times…everyone here is stumped, can you help me find an answer ?
Your idle air control valve could be sticking, causing the fast idle, you could have some gunk in your throttle body holding the throttle plate open, or you could have a vacuum leak somewhere. I’m thinking it’s the idle air control valve since you can get it to stop by restarting the car. Try removing and cleaning it. If that doesn’t work, try replacing it.
