I have a 96 850 station wagon and the ABS light comes on intermittently. When the light comes on I have to engage the shift lock override button to get the car into gear. Also, when the light is on the speedometer, turn signals, head lights, and mirrors do not work.
I assume this is the ABS unit and I have found a website with a guy claiming to be able to fix it.
