Just wondering if anyone here can give some insight into a transmission problem: My 94 Topaz just had a rebuilt transmission installed and it works fine except when first starting to drive. It will not shift out of 3rd gear until I drive it around for a bit with the engine at high RPM in the lower gears. Fluid level is fine. Is the transmission totally bad or can something be done to fix the one gear range?

P.S. It seems also like I must “baby” the acceleration in lower gears after getting the car to shift properly, even after it’s been running in 4th gear for a while (say 35+ mph) whenever I accelerate from a stop.
