My 1993 Volvo 240 Classic limited edition wagon has a problem myu mechanic has not yet been able to solve. After I stop or slow down, when I put my foot on the gas pedal it hesitates a lot and sometimes just stalls out. It also idles roughly when I am stopped. The car has only 114,000 miles on it, it is otherwise in great shape- my mecahnic said it was onr of the best he has seen. This problem makes me nervous to drive the car- any ideas. Air flow meter has been changed as well as the spark plugs, fuel filter. He said it might be the throttle?
You might have your mechanic CLEAN the throttle body. I had the same issue on an '88 240DL and it did the trick. There are myriad possibilities for potential fuel or electrical problems, but start with an easy, low cost fix first.
