4WD actuator 2002 Chevy Silverado

I have a 2002 automatic Chevy Silverado 3500 with the 6.6 Duramax Turbo Diesel. It is a push button 4 wheel drive vehicle, or it is supposed to be anyway. As I understand it either the 4 wheel drive actuator has gone out or the vacuum lines. I had the vacuum lines check and they come out okay, so I am left with the actuator as the culprit. My question is, when I bought the replacement actuator I found out that I must take the actuator housing from the truck, take it apart, replace the defective part, put it back together, and then replace the housing back into the truck. Has anyone done this and is there some step by step instructions that I can obtain? Is there anything that I should be aware of when doing this repair? Are there any nasty little surprises that I need to watch out for (springs, catch-pins, etc) when taking apart the actuator housing?

Thanks for your time guys
