2017 Kia Optima - Bad engine

Unless I’m mistaken . . .

On coil-on-plug modern engines, the pcm adjusts the timing for each cylinder individually

This is part of the reason why timing lights have been gathering dust for years

And will continue to do so

Say the crankshaft position sensor got out of alignment, or it is failing. The timing will always show that it is correct on the scan tool. Has anyone ever had a scan tool show that the timing was incorrect? This kind of failure most be very rare. There needs to be another way to verify that it is correct since the computer would have no way of knowing if it is wrong.

I used mine on my daughter in laws 1993 Mazda 626. My on called me and saidhis wifes car was misfiring and only had 40,000 miles on it. I looked up the owners manuaql and told him it needed plugs every 30, 000 miles. I picked up the plugs and got a cap and rotor too.
