hmmm … well it is certainly possible there was a fault with the head gasket or cylinder head when the vehicle was first manufactured, but it didn’t leak then. Later it springs a leak.
If that’s what happened, might be worthwhile to ask shop to try re-tightening the bolts that hold the head to the block. Also good idea to ask shop why exactly they think there’s a head gasket problem.
