How long would a car have to run to burn up a little over a half of a tank of gas. I put my car in the shop to have the rear bumper painted. When I picked it up I barley made it into the gas station before running out of gas. The owner said that the car was never driven off the lot.
I have no idea what amount a 1/2 tank of gas in a Maserati is . But a Google search says an idling engine uses about 1/5 gallon an hour .

Google says you have a 19 gallon tank and the car gets 16 mpg combined, assuming I’m looking at the correct model. Half a tank is equivalent to driving 152 miles, about 2 1/2 hours at 60 mph. If Volvo’s figure is correct, the car would have to idle for days. If you can recall the mileage when you dropped the car off and there’s a significant discrepancy, it might be an indication of unauthorized use.

Did the OP record the odometer mileage when he dropped the car off at the shop?
More than likely, someone from the shop was taking a joyride in his car.
