2013 Hyundai Accent - Not enough power

can looses power when climbing a hill

Other ideas

  • engine compression
  • engine was overheating (did engine seem to be misfiring, sort of like a hick-up?)
  • if vehicle slowed down but engine rpm speeded up, transmission may be slipping

The Accent was an under powered, entry level car even when new.

A blockage in the exhaust is another possibility to add to the list (assuming the transmission isn’t slipping as George_San_Jose1 wonders).

My son owns a 2015 Accent. It has plenty of pep. Far more pep then my 1974 Vega.

Start with the simplest thing: is the air filter clogged?

Is there a check engine light on?
How many miles on the vehicle?
were the plugs ever changed?
Was the air filter ever changed?

Have you even driven a 2015 Accent ? They had about average performance and were not underpowered at all . Just to many people think the vehicle has to do 0 to 60 in 5 seconds .
