It is no surprise that you will need a title, VIN inspection and safety inspection before registration can be issued.
You can’t simply send a letter of demand to the loan company for the title, you must comply to the agreement in the loan contract. That likely includes notifying the loan company of a change of address in certain amount of time and satisfying the loan to release the title.
Good morning, Jessica: What a frustrating situation for you. It’s difficult to navigate all those bureaucratic systems, and this sounds like one of many boulders you’ve pushed up a hill in your time.
I didn’t think you were asking for the thread to be closed, but at the same time I read back over the thread and I didn’t see the comments the same way you did. Trust me, if I thought people were making assumptions or judgments about you, I’d say so.
I’m sorry that the advice or feedback you’ve gotten hasn’t helped.
Yes, I have financed and paid off over 5 vehicles and have had the title sent to me after I paid off the loan… I wasn’t trying to get the title for my own records, but rather have it sent to Pennsylvania because they apparently have to have it so it can be registered and inspected. That doesn’t mean the finance company won’t be paid, it just means that I can legally drive it in Pennsylvania without North Carolina plates and expired inspection. I have no faith that this will be corrected because after months of trying to make it right and have my car legal, they never followed through with sending the title to Pennsylvania. I was to write a letter and fax it to the finance department for the release of the title to Pennsylvania… With that being said, it wasn’t done because I tried to do those things and my vehicle wasn’t in their system. It’s just a vicious cycle of unjust bullshit at this point. The Attorney General of Pennsylvania and the US Attorney General, NHSTA, BBB, Hyundai Corporate and Wells Fargo Dealer Services have all been contacted about the pathetic service Wells Fargo Dealer Services exhibits and how their lack of action caused a great financer the loss of my vehicle. Car aside… Wells Fargo Dealer Services are legal scammers that can get bailed out by our tax dollars every few years and steal vehicles from hard working American’s. And until I make his right, I will continue to try to make a wrong a right.
It doesn’t work that way in the three states I have lived in and I suspect PA is similar. They don’t just want a copy of your old title. They want the actual title so they can generate a new PA title, complete the transfer with the original state and destroy your old title. You need to be titled in the state that you are registering the car.
Your prior history of making payments on this loan, or any other for that matter is not going to be taken into account. They are not going to trust you to do the right thing. They get burned all the time by other people who have no ethics or morals. It’s called title washing and it is typically accomplished by moving the title between states to remove details in the process. They almost assuredly won’t relinquish the title until you satisfy the loan. End of story.
So someone at the finance company said they would send the title to PA if you wrote them a formal request to do so? Or was this a commitment from the third party dealer services outfit? Sounds like a miscommunication on either end occurred or someone at the dealer services place committed to an action that couldn’t be fulfilled.
Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. Wells Fargo Dealer Services Title department requested that I fax a hand written request for the title release to the state of Pennsylvania. And I did what they asked and tried to contact them for months afterwards and was repeatedly hung up on. Call Pennsylvania department of motor vehicles and they told me they didn’t receive anything for my vehicle. I called every Wells Fargo Dealer Services number I could find and they all disconnected me after 1 minute 21 seconds… for months. Can’t correct a problem when you can’t contact who you finance through. It’s a moot issue at this point, but if my story helps someone else… Then God Bless and don’t trust Wells Fargo Dealer Services… They are a crooked company.
Were this my own problem, that’s the government office I’d focus on for seeking help. The shorter and fact-dense your letter to them is, the more likely you’ll get the problem resolved expeditiously. Best of luck OP.
Folks, the car is long gone. The only remedy the OP can seek is monetary, but this is so convoluted, I have no idea from whom. My best guess is Wells Fargo.
Well, understanding is based on experience… and I’m the one who dealt with this all… Needless to say… I’ve gained nothing, but consistent annoyance from people who think they are better than me, yet don’t know anything about the situation aside from what they asked and their vague assumptions… Until you have a problem similar, it’s always the customers fault… I contacted BBB, US Attorney General, Pennsylvania Attorney General, and anyone I could to help correct the issue. The car is long gone… That’s fine, but Hyundai conveniently waited until that time to add my VIN to the recall… Nothing is a coincidence. I believe that Hyundai Corporate and WFDS are behind this and as far as I’m concerned it’s against many of my rights… But please… tell me how wrong I am and that this is a waste of time… Don’t waste your time because I have no intention of letting it go. Maybe y’all should work for the dealerships and financial institutions… you seem very much for the billion dollar companies that continuously get bailed out by our tax money… If they can’t get their finances in order, why should they expect anyone of their customers to physically track them down and hand them money. I gave them the opportunity and my bank information to take car payments out… Why they didn’t, I have no idea. Because they never picked up the phone or contacted me after that.
Again… conversation over. I’d rather have advise that’s helpful and not insulting… Like everyone here is righteous… Wake up!.. Y’all live in a fantasy world if you believe in anyway these companies care about anyone they lend money to.
End of post- JZ.
Best advice anyone has offered. Thank you… people seem to have too much Time to vent their own anger… Not helpful. Lol. Appreciate the understanding and advice.
Now you have gone completely paranoid. Hyundai waited for YOUR car to be repossessed before adding thousands of cars to a recall? Do you really believe that??
This thread does not belong in this forum area. It has nothing to do with Maintenance/Repairs.
@cdaquila - I am sorry that Jessica has this problem but it became apparent that this forum is not going to be able to solve anything for her. Why she keeps returning is beyond me.
Intervention time ?
I intervened above. If none of you think that you have anything to offer, and she says she’s done, maybe it’s best everybody just leaves it alone. I don’t want to treat people like kids and shut a thread in that manner, and that’s not a new thing.
