have a real bad clicking noise in my 2009 4cyl gear box in my suburu forrester
I have looked it up nobody knows what it is. You may need to go to the Subaru dealership and they will take it from there.
Have someone check for loose hardware at the gear box cross-support.

Don’t mean to insult your intelligence (as most likely you would not confuse a CV joint noise with gearbox) but when I hear “clicking noise” first thing I think of is CV joint, as it’s common for them to fail.
Trust you ruled that out.
