You don’t live here. You don’t understand my neighborhood. ok. have your opinions but they have nothing to do with my situation. stop replying to me if you don’t want one back. If you are a VOLVO enthusiast, then, you would never be able to survive around here. That is just my general opinion.
GREAT IDEA, jt. I have never done what is popular. If I had, I would be dead by now. have a nice day, if that’s popular with you.
What everyone is trying to tell you is.
If this car really only needs a new $15 radiator cap, the owner would have fixed the problem before selling it. But because he’s not fixing it, it must have a more serious problem which could be very expensive to fix.
HAHA! someone wanted to GIVE me a used VOLVO… I said: absolutely NOT! Don’t give me something that will make more problems for me than I already have.
wow, now I have a serious cooling problem, too.
I’m going to look at it today. I"m going to take it to my mechanic after that. You have no idea who the seller is. I do. He obviously has different priorities than you do. OMG!!! HOW COULD THAT BE!!! what ever the problem is has not been determined yet.
OK , we bought our 2010 Volvo V70 new right off the showroon floor and had it until 2023. I would never buy a used European luxury vehicle either.
I would also not buy a vehicle old with lots of miles and problems .
Sorry if you don’t like the responses but that is life in web Forums.
headgasket was replaced. so was timing belt and water pump.
So he has already spent $2,000 trying to fix it and it still has a problem, He’s selling it because it’s turned into a money pit and hoping to get some sucker to buy it.
You must not be a Monty Python fan.
For this car to have its head gaskets replaced recently, and still have a major cooling system leak, is a big red flag. Either they didn’t do a good job on the head gaskets, or they can’t diagnose what would seem to be a pretty simple problem. Either way, my advice is still the same: RUN AWAY! (google it).
How else will he reach his obvious goal of having the most CarTalk posts of anyone–ever?
Unless you can see hard copy receipts for those repairs, then they almost surely were not done. In any event, I can be counted as one more vote to keep looking for a car with no obvious problems.
Oh, I believe those repairs were done…by a DIYer or so-called “mechanic”, but not a licensed shop. I also believe that these engines, which use an open-deck aluminum block, and aluminum heads, are very difficult to seal, especially after being overheated.
This is not a K-Car engine, which you could literally overheat until the head has cracked, throw a different head on, with a new gasket, and expect it to work.
And it is completely disingenuous to suggest that after spending all this money and effort on engine repairs, the current owner would have given up if a radiator cap, hose, or similar inexpensive part would solve the problem.
RUN, RUN, RUN as fast and as far from this “deal” as possible!
The Olympics tv announcers focused their attention on the gold medal winner, not the silver. Would you have preferred they talk mostly about the silver medal winner, and not the gold?
Gold medal winners get them for doing something well , not for how many times they do something.
I think that Volvo’s answer–above–provides an excellent response.
In any event, I’m glad you admit that you are posting much/most of your comments in an effort to achieve that lofty goal.
What answer? I don’t see anything.
On my screen, it appears just before my prior post. In case your computer is malfunctioning, here it is:
No one ever remembers who came in second.
Hi Everybody
I have an UPDATE… guess what?..
I didn’t buy the Legacy. Don’t know what the problem really was. Go ahead and speculate ad infinitum. I bought a different car… Enjoy your machinations of imagination… I enjoyed them …and in case you’re wondering… I didn’t buy a Volvo/// Cheers
