Is it better to do a ring job or replace the motopr
Depends on who is doing the ring job and how long you can wait for your car to be repaired.
A “ring job” done correctly is a rebuilt engine complete with bored cylinders, new pistons and rings, refinished connecting rods, crank, heads, new bearings all around ect, ect… This will take a few weeks to a few months depending on how backed up the machine shop is.
I’d replace the engine with a re-manufactured one that comes with a strong warranty, installed by a shop that warranties its labor as well.
