My daughter has a 2008 Odyssey with about 170k miles. Bought used last December. It has a rough start about half the time. Otherwise it drives great. No problem with idle, etc.
We did have it in one shop a few months ago for a new power steering pump. They said that we would have to soon replace the tensioner pulley which would help with the rough start (That doesn’t make sense to me)
We did take it back to a different shop last week because the tensioner pulley was bad. (replaced water pump as well) It was also showing PO118. We had put on a S-VCM and thought that may have been related. Since getting it back no codes, but still a rough start probably a bit more than half the time. No rhyme and reason to when the rough start happens.
Wondering where to start looking to figure this out. Temp Sensor? MAF? New plugs and wires?
That may well be the key to the rough start problem, because the code indicates that the engine’s coolant temp sensor thinks that the temp is actually -4 degrees. That can/will result in the fuel injection system feeding too “rich” a mixture to the cylinders, and a rough start is just one of the problems that will result from that situation.

Thanks! Even though we’ve only gotten the code once and it’s now cleared? Looks like it’s pretty easy replacement.
I’d also be curious about a dying fuel pump.

Thanks, we’ll check that as well.
Please define a “rough start”.
Use a scanner that has live data to see what the ECT is reading while starting the vehicle…
