2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sways when going over bumps

I just bought a used car. There are signs of a minor fender bender but now when the car hits bumps, instead of bouncing up & down, it sways side to side. What could be the problem?

I hope this did not do that when you test drove this thing. Don’t waste time and get this repaired before you lose control and injure yourself or someone else.

It could be something as simple as a sway-bar link being broken. It could be major structural damage. It could be an entire corner about to fall off, wheel, brake and all.

Absolutely impossible to determine without actually looking all around and under the car. Get it to a mechanic for inspection ASAP, which we always recommend you do BEFORE purchasing the car.
